Social Media Intern
Brown Girl Grinding is a media and lifestyle brand creating conversations around career, entrepreneurship, culture and community. Through digital storytelling, events and original content, we empower ambitious women to build meaningful careers while staying connected to culture. You'll help grow Brown Girl Grinding across Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), Pinterest, Substack and emerging platforms by creating content, identifying trends and helping shape our social media strategy. This internship is ideal for someone who geeks out over social media trends, pays attention to algorithm updates and loves figuring out why some content takes off while other content gets ignored.
Responsibilities Include
- —Research and monitor platform trends across Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), Pinterest and Substack.
- —Stay up to date on platform algorithm changes, new features and best practices, then recommend how Brown Girl Grinding should adapt.
- —Identify trending conversations, cultural moments and viral content opportunities that align with our brand.
- —Develop content ideas tailored to the strengths and audience of each platform.
- —Help plan, schedule and publish weekly content.
- —Create graphics and carousels in Canva.
- —Edit short-form video content for Reels, TikTok and Shorts.
- —Assist with live event coverage and behind-the-scenes content.
- —Research articles, quotes, creators and industry conversations that can inspire original content.
- —Monitor analytics and prepare simple reports on what's working, what's not and where we should experiment next.
- —Contribute ideas during weekly content planning meetings.
- —Help maintain our editorial calendar and ensure content is published on schedule.

Internship Requirements
- —Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- —Receive academic credit for the internship (required).
- —Commit 10–15 hours per week.
- —Attend virtual team meetings.
- —Have reliable internet and a laptop.
- —Be authorized to work in the United States.
